RAFFLE HOTEL

[MORE PHOTOS]
GETTING HERE:
The hotel occupies the whole city block surrounded by North Bridge Rd, Bras Basah Rd, Beach Road and Seah Street. Nonetheless, the main entrance is located on Beach Road. The nearest MRT station is EW13/NS25 City Hall. Disembark from this station, walk north along North Bridge Road and turn right into Bras Basah Road. Once you see the hotel, it is hard to miss the front entrance. Alternatively, CityBuzz makes its stop here on route C1-#14 and C3-#11.

DESCRIPTION:
Originally was a lone bungalow on Beach Road, Raffles Hotel was eventually expanded in the late 19th century and becomes Singapore's crown jewel of hospitality industry. To a certain extent, it also being mentioned as one of Asia's greatest hotels for its neo-classical styles, unsurpassed service excellence and colonial-influenced architecture.

Make no mistake, it will cost you a bomb to stay here. But you don't have to be a hotel patron to enjoy the marvelous architecture. There are sidewalks provided around the 4 corners of the property where tourists can bask in its glory, however limited that can be. There is a section on Bras Basah Rd where a small opening is accessible to view what lies inside - solid tropical timber made into verandah-style amidst a jungle setting.

The hotel also hosts a number of small eateries and cafes on the sidewalk and inside. Certainly a great excuse to spoil yourselves in this expensive establishment even if you are not staying here (most people don't anyway, except royalties, maybe?).
